Warburtons Bristol

2007- 2008 Warburtons Bakery, Western Approach, Bristol UK

A new 20,000m2 bakery for Warburtons on a 4 hectare site at Western Approach, Severnside, Bristol developed by Gazeley for Warburtons and built by Simons Construction. The completed first phase comprises 5000m2 bakery plant, raw materials and tank storage, 4000 m2 despatch, 1,200m2 ancillary accommodation and offices for 150 staff and high tech automated plant equipment producing 7,500 loaves of bread per hour.  The design achieved BREEAM very good standard, using heat recovery from the bakery process to heat the warehouse . Flood prevention required surface water storage ponds and raised site levels by 1.2m. A perimeter landscape  screen planting includes indigenous species, new bridle paths and existing trees and habitats.
