2009  RIBA Competition, Northwich UK

The main theatre, dance spaces and entrance to the building face towards the town and a new urban public space. An urban park is created on the river frontage with green space, river walk and public spaces for external performance adjacent to the cultural centre. An extended wing of the cultural centre screens the adjacent plant with accommodation for gallery, restaurant, retail, offices and a south facing boardwalk promenade to the footbridge over the river

Existing lanes are extended across the site to connect the new building to the town centre, river walk, access for pedestrians, cyclists, and public transport, retail and restaurants   

Sustainable design includes curved laminated timber canopy roof with biodiverse green roof, cooling for natural ventilation from ground source heat pumps and biomass heating.
