2007-08 Masterplan for public spaces, retail, offices & housing for GPRL

 

Higgs Young Architects are commissioned to design the masterplan buildings for arts,media and commercial use  on Peninsula Square adjacent to the 02 arena (formerly the Millennium Dome) The brief included a outdoor performance space and video wall fronting the public space with flexible accommodation space for retail, arts, media, commercial and residential uses. The masterplan included offices designed  by Farrells, the Ravensbourne design college designed by Foreign Office Architects, and residential designed  by Flacq. The design by Higgs Young Architects provides  8000m2 accommodation  fronting the square for restaurant and retail use. Upper floor media and offices suites are designed around an internal glazed courtyard. Green roofs and walls are used to screen the underground railway vents and create  new public spaces along a proposed curving street leading to the Thames ferry. Retail and student housing fronting the new public spaces.
