Greenwich Visitor Centre 2012 Visitor Centre, 1 Pier Walk, Greenwich Peninsula London SE10

Higgs Young Architects obtained a planning approval from Greenwich Council for a visitor centre and retail pavilion  for Greenwich Peninsula Regeneration Ltd. The pavilion is to be located adjacent the O2 and North Greenwich Station in the heart of the emerging Peninsula Central district.

The design provides a ‘street scale’ building which defines the curved Pier Walk and the public realm. It relates to the heights of other retail buildings surrounding Peninsula Place and hides the TfL infrastructure and the service of Ravensbourne, completes a public space Pier Walk and Peninsula Square and relates well to the scale of the video wall. The diminishing pattern of glazing and increase in solid has the dual role of shop window and emphasises the gradual curve of Pier Walk. The two storey building of 800m2 will provide for business to customer and  business to business information and marketing activity and other commercial uses including  A1/A3 and A4 retail uses and  B1 offices.
